World Press Photo

The World Press Photo contest has announced their 2006 winners. The work is fantastic as usual; some images are especially poignant. Take some time to look at the other photos too. It's a moving (both beautiful and horrible) way to review what happened in the world last year. And if you ever have the chance, I really recommend seeing the photos in person. The exhibit travels to different cities throughout the year.

Also on the subject of documentary photography is a great interview with Simon Norfolk, who has some tremendous work.

North Korean Vacation

You might be surprised to find out North Korea offers several tour packages. Here's a absolutely fascinating travelouge with plenty of pictures from a Russian who went there in 2004. The English translation is mostly adequate, but the Russian version is much better, if you can read it.

Nostalgic Glass update

I just finished a new photo project on the old Dallas Public Library
buildings downtown. It's more interesting than it sounds, really.
